If you are a devoted fan of James Bond's movies, definitely you must have noticed that Mr. Bond wears the very same watch in all movies (even if he changes every couple of years!) which is the Rolex Submariner. Even though it was in stores for the first time in the year 1954, the Submariner is considered as one of the most popular watches on the planet. For such importance, I'm offering you a quick review on the beautiful model so that it could be of a help if you are planning to buy a new watch soon. As easily concluded from its name, the initial purpose of the creation of the Submariner was to serve specific people such as divers, marine biologists and other professionals who have to work under the sea for a long time. As mentioned in the guide, it can withstand up to 1,000 feet of pressure beating the previous models which won't last for 4,000 feet. One of the unique features is the 'triple' lock crown (instead of double) with the extra seal which you can find only when you totally unscrew the crown. This tiny black )-shaped ring is the waterproof secret! If you don't find this gasket then be sure your submariner won't handle high water pressure and, which is worse, is not genuine! The bezel of the Submariner is unidirectional (to the right) and considered another sign of originality. Make sure that your original Submariner bezel can rotate counter-clockwise, not other way else or even in both directions. Also pay attention to the rate of hearing a click sound by the bezel as it should be every quarter and not every minute. Another hidden trick to show that this is a genuine Submariner is the font! Notice the A in the word 'SUBMARINER' on the face of the watch, it should have a flat top and not a pointed one! Finally I hope this review helped a new buyer to be protected from robbery, and an old buyer to be sure he has got the right deal (hopefully!). |
